9 Words Women Use

A friend sent this to me today and I really got a good laugh. It is so true!

1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

5) Loud Sigh:This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of nothing.)

6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here-This is true, unless she says "Thanks a lot" - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "You're welcome"...that will bring a "Whatever").

8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying *&^% YOU!

9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For the woman's response refer to #3.

New Bike

Keith just got a new bike today. Steve found it on Craigs List. It is actually a men's bike. I can't believe he is riding a men's size bike! He is getting to big. They said at Wheel's Sport this should fit him until he's 5 ft. 6 inches. So, we shouldn't have to get another one for a while! He's excited to have gears now and disc brakes. He thinks he's going to beat me now on the trail. (He probably will!)

1st game of the season

Keith had his first game today. They won by 2 points. (I mean runs) He did awesome! I was a proud Mom. He pitched and did really well at it. Striking out a lot of kids, although he did hit a girl pretty hard. As Steve said "He put some mustard on that ball!" Keith is convinced she was trying to get hit.
He also did really well hitting. Last year he struggled hitting and every time he was up today he hit and made it to the base. Except once he was walked. We all froze watching the game it was in the 40's but the sun was out and it wasn't super windy. It was supposed to rain and snow and none of that happened. So I shouldn't complain.
Next game is Wed. So we'll see how he does then. For all you Grandparents & Aunties, I'll update you after each game. He's made a pretty good friend on the team. Kelly's teachers son Cameron is on the team. He and Keith have become instant friends, so that's pretty fun. This should be a really good season for him.

The Way of the Master

Well, I just got back from a bike ride. (Thank you sister for rubbing in that you got to ride 40 miles the other day!) I was frozen but got 10 miles in and it felt great. I wanted actually to write something about Steve. I put a link to The Way of the Master on my blog because my husband has been leading this course in our home group. It has been really good. I have watched it change my husbands compassion for the lost. Steve and his friend Tim have been going to the mall on Saturday's and sharing the gospel with people. Keith goes along with them. They have had a pretty good response. I could go on and on about it, but I wanted to share what happened this morning. For those who don't know, The Way of the Master is an evangelism course. Probably the most effective one we have ever seen. It shows you how to bypass the intellect (place of argument) and speak directly to the conscience (the place of the knowledge of right and wrong)-the way Jesus did. Anyway, he had a phone solicitor call him this morning. Rather than saying he's not interested and hanging up Steve let the guy talk a bit and then told him it wasn't anything that would benefit his business. The guy said he was sorry to take Steves time and Steve said "That's fine, would you mind if I took a little of your time." The guy said "Sure." So, he launched into The Way of the Master. He was on the phone with this guy for awhile. When he got off the phone I asked him about it and he said the guy was really receptive to what he said. The man thought it was a big coincidence that Steve would take the time to talk with him about something he had been talking with his best friend of 30 years about just the other day. He was really searching. Steve told him he had felt lead to share with him. Steve went through some of the 10 Commandments, (which no one can say they keep perfectly) and then shared the gospel with him and encouraged him to read his Bible and to search for the truth.

How often are we annoyed by the interruptions of people in our life? Maybe we should take the time to share truth with those that God places in our paths, rather than turn and go on our own way. I am just as guilty of this as anyone else. I admire my husband for stepping out of his comfort zone so that the lost may be saved. If you're interested check out The Way of the Master.

Fun Weekend

We had a gorgeous weekend last weekend. Steve left on Friday for our church's mens retreat. So, I thought the kids and I should have a little fun Mommy time. Friday night we went to dinner with our neighbors Jay and Taunya. We always have fun with them. Saturday, of course the kids had to have German Pancakes. (This has become a Saturday morning tradition) And after breakfast the kids and I headed out on the trail for a bike ride. It was gorgeous. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful. We would get to a spot on the trail were the river was running swift and the trees were not blocking the view and Kelly would have to stop to look at the "Beautiful view". Riding on the trail can be a bit stressful with kids. And on the first warm Saturday of the season, everyone seems to be out. Not everyone abides by trail rules. Stay on the right side of the trail. Warn people when you're passing them on the left so they don't have a heart attack when you fly by them. Keeping the kids on the right side of the trail can be tricky. And after my accident last year, I tend to be a bit more cautious than most. Kelly is the one I'm after the most. That girl can't ride in a straight line to save her life. She is constantly weaving around, so I'm constantly saying "stay on your side Kelly". Despite all that, we had a great time. We rode five miles. Kelly started out saying she wanted to ride more than five and complained when we turned around at 2.5 miles to head home, but by the time we were coming up on a half mile left, she was really glad to be almost home. Keith wants a bike with gears this year. He wants to keep up with me one the trails without having to pedal twice as fast as me. We'll see.
After riding on the trail we ran to the store to get some stuff for dinner. Got home, cleaned up the picnic table and back patio, and then Keith started missing Steve. He was just wanting to throw football with someone and Kelly and I weren't good enough. So he asked if he could see if Jay and Taunya had any work he could do. As it turned out they were out front throwing ball, so Keith took Taunya's place and we ended up hanging out with them all afternoon.
Then we came home, grilled burgers, ate out on the patio and had ice cream bars after dinner. As Kelly was eating her ice cream she said, "Mom this was the BEST day of my life. I wish all days were like this. Keith and I are getting so spoiled!"
It reminded me that it's the simple things in life that children love. Time spent with them is more important than what you buy them. Quality time focusing on that relationship you have with them is what matters most. We had a lot of fun. We weren't on a schedule. We didn't have to be anywhere or do anything. We just had fun.

Shock Season

Posted by Picasa

The Shock season is upon us once again. As you can see from the picture, the boys are excited. They went to the first game and were not disappointed. The Shock won and put on a great show. Kelly and I take this time of year to do some fun girl stuff on Saturdays. I took her to see the movie "Horton Hears a Who". Which was pretty cute. Then she wanted to go to dinner at Panda Express and then she wanted to go shopping. We barely beat the boys home. It was great mother/daughter time. I know I have to take advantage of every moment. It all goes by so fast.

I want to ride my bike!

It is time for the snow to go away! Last week the weather man said we have gotten 80 inches of snow this year. My neighbor Jay was telling me he thinks our average is 40 something. So, here it is April 5th and it is snowing....again! It snowed yesterday too. And they are calling for more random snow the rest of the week. The good thing is, if it snows in the morning, it's usually melted by the afternoon, and it isn't sticking to the roads at all. But I want to ride my bike! I am longing for some sunshine, and I'd like to wash my car and have it stay clean for more than two days.
Keith just started Little League this week. He had practice last night and it was so cold! The wind was really blowing which doesn't help, so we took him out to have hot chocolate after practice. The funny thing about that was he wanted ice cream too. Crazy kid. He is doing awesome this year at baseball and I think he has a really good coach. I'm excited for him. He's so stinking cute with his ball cap out there on the field. I love it.
We probably should have let Kelly give it a try this year too, but maybe we'll let her give gymnastics a try again. At least that is inside. Well I have to sign off for now. Let's hope next time I can say I've been riding my bike!
